AN - Artist’s Newsletter

I make my work within, and because of, the precariousness of mobility. It is a means of connecting with, and interpreting the world. I'm interested in ideas of exile, magic and hiraeth - nostos/algos. I recall memories of place and journey using an evolving process of model making, printmaking, painting and drawing.

Travel both informs and limits my work and recent work has been made in response to this. How can I create and thrive within an Artist's community as a transient? What materials can I carry and how do I show my work? What space is made for artwork in the day to day survival of fixing a boat or adapting to and learning the infrastructure of a new place? I am a partner in the ongoing diy restoration of a sailing boat in the USA, Mexico and Cuba. For the past year and a half I was based in Uganda volunteering part time as a communications intern for a humanitarian mapping NGO, I recently returned to Wales.
