My work is influenced by Magic Realism and memory. Exploring the idea of belonging and exile, my intention is to visually construct and possess experiences of place, from my childhood spent on the Welsh West coast and more recent experiences and encounters as a sailor and as an itinerant.

Christie's The Best if the Drawing Year - 2018

Prior to doing my Postgraduate Diploma, I worked as an illustrator for twelve years, hand-drawing/painting commissions for a wide range of publishers and companies (including Penguin, Algonquin Books, The Folio Society). These commissions reflected my strong interest in reportage drawing ‘capturing place’ and were primarily for travel writers. I worked for two years at the Welsh Books Council as a bilingual book designer, designing book covers, book layouts and printed materials to promote the Welsh publishing industry. During the past ten years I have also partnered in the diy restoration and passage making of an ocean sailing boat in the waters of the USA, Mexico and Cuba. I am currently based in Kampala and am primarily focussing on my work as an artist/painter.
