No Boundaries International Art Residency - North Carolina - two weeks in January 2023. Revisiting familiar places and feeling the subtle changes of season and island life. The island was in low season so there were work crews repairing and a sense of nature breathing and stretching before the visitors returned. Thinking about genus loci and trying to capture some of the winter light and weather.

A valuable month of time, light and massive wall space allowed me to create some really big memory drawings. I was mid house restoration and living in a building site at the time so this sudden gift of expanse was delicious.
Two weeks working alongside artists from all over the world and within the local thriving arts community - a life shifting and healing time - bicycling around the island and drawing.
Two weeks drawing in the snow and hunting season as winter solstice approached - wearing lots of high vis layers - also experimenting with pasta machine printmaking and making models based on the sarcophagi I’d drawn from in the brilliant Etruscan museum in Volterra.
Two weeks in Borgo Pignano in the early summer - early starts to work around the heat of the day, drawing the wild flowers and the fig trees, the studio surrounded by swooping birds, an encounter with a hare when I was out drawing.
